I started using plywood cake bases. My cardboard bases (even tripled) still bent & cracked my cakes. So I went to Lowe's & had them cut a 4' x 8' sheet of 1/2" plywood into 18 cake boards. I cut some for my 12 x 18, some for my 11 x 15 & some for my 7 x 11. I don't know all the sizes, but I KNOW that the 11 x 15 cake boards are 13 x 18. I buy cake boxes that are 14 x 19 at Michaels & the 13 x 18 cake boards fit perfectly. I cover my plywood with Contact paper. Then I cover that with wrapping paper. Then I cover that with FDA approved, food-safe cellophane.
When the cake is ready to be transported I then put it on the wood board for extra support. I write "This board belongs to: (my name) on the bottom of the board.
Get rid of the box if they cause trouble. I set my cakes on rubber backing to keep from sliding in the car.
Can use regular boxes turned sideways with shelf liner in it to transport cakes without a box.
